Net foreign assets in Japan reached a record level in 2012

Net foreign assets in Japan reached a record level in 2012. This value is calculated by estimating the overseas assets by Japanese companies, governments and individual investors minus foreign investment in Japan.
Representatives of the Ministry of Finance reported that by the end of last year, the net foreign assets exceeded 296 trillion yen, or $ 2 trillion 900 billion. This is 11.6 percent higher than a year earlier.
The level of net foreign assets in Japan is the world's highest 22 consecutive years and is almost twice the assets of China, which is on this indicator in second place.
