High-ranking representatives of the Japan Self-Defense Forces were sent to Asian countries for the mutual exchange in the field of defense. The Japanese government's efforts in this direction are likely directed against the growing naval operations in China.
As it became known to NHK, since the beginning of this year, the administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has sent high-level representatives of the SDF in 9 countries in Asia and Australia. Among the Asian countries are Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, India and Pakistan.
According to a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Japan, the number of such visits is increasing with the existing strategy.
Ships of the Chinese government often make calls in Japanese territorial waters around the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.
