Prefectural governments on whose territory is Mount Fuji, calling for people planning to climb this highest peak in Japan, use caution when climbing.
Already this month, UNESCO register Mount Fuji as a World Heritage Site.
Authorities and Shizuoka prefectures of Yamanashi expect that this summer the number of applicants to conquer Mount Fuji will be up to 400,000 people. This is 20% more than normal annual rate.
Prefectural authorities urged to refrain from climbing "in the same breath," that is, breaching the way up to the top without a break, pointing to the risk of altitude sickness and downs due to overwork.
