South Korea's new ambassador to Japan seeks to improve bilateral ties

South Korea's new ambassador to Japan has pledged to improve bilateral relations, which have deteriorated due to the differences in the interpretation of certain historical events.
Lee Byung Ki arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The ambassador told reporters that he is committed to the exchange of views with the people of Japan to convey their heartfelt wishes and thoughts to the citizens of South Korea, and vice versa.
Lee refused to comment on the possibility of Sino-South Korean summit. He only said that such a meeting would be held at an appropriate time.
