06:32
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urges more Japanese companies to invest heavily in the railway and other projects in his country.

Singh spoke at a business luncheon organized by the Japan Business Federation, or Keidanren, and the other in Tokyo. Singh is on a four-day visit to Japan.

He told the representatives of the business elite that infrastructure development is vital for the development of India. He would like to get investment for freight railway, which will connect the capital, Delhi, with the western port city of Mumbai.

He said that the growth of the Indian economy has slowed in the past year because of the European debt crisis and other global factors. Singh, however, expressed confidence that India will be able to return to the path of economic growth.
